The Venture Capital Trust Fund

The Venture Capital Trust Fund (“VCTF” or the “Trust Fund”) was established by the VCTF Act 2004 (Act 680). VCTF is a Government-backed venture capital fund of funds, which focuses on investing in venture capital funds dedicated to investing in Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) and also deploy monies to support other activities and programs, which are aimed at promoting venture capital financing in Ghana. The vision of VCTF is to develop a venture capital industry leading to a thriving private sector. Its mission is to provide credit and equity financing to eligible SMEs.

GETP has provided resources to help VCTF review its institutional and operational structure, implement recommended reforms and develop targeted training and capacity building of its staff and the PE/VC ecosystem. The Fund will also leverage the resources provided by the project to support early-stage businesses and strategic Industries through the establishment of funds for investments/co-investment in SMEs and strategic industries.
