Ghana National Accreditation Service

Ghana National Accreditation Service

GhaNAS seeks to become an internationally recognized accreditation body providing excellent, consistent, and impartial accreditation services to its clients (Conformity Assessment Bodies) in Ghana and beyond. Accreditation and other elements of the quality infrastructure system such as standardization, metrology and conformity assessment play a pivotal role in establishing the technical foundations that protect the health and safety of consumers and the environment. The accreditation services of GhaNAS would also ensure that products are verified as safe, and that Ghana’s health and social care systems are delivered by competent professionals while at the same time preventing unhealthy, unsafe, and environmentally harmful products from entering the marketplace. Through mutual and multilateral recognition arrangements by countries, GhaNAS accredited CAB’s test results would be credible and more readily accepted globally, reducing the frequency of testing of products and services, and thereby facilitating trade.

The GET Project support to GhaNAS is aimed at advancing Ghana’s National Quality Infrastructure through the provision of accreditation services crucial for businesses to optimize the benefits associated with boosting intra-African trade. GhaNAS in the performance of its functions, will open-up the conformity assessment market space allowing private sector participation in conformity assessment activities thereby creating jobs and improving the quality of life and overall well-being of citizens.
